Moving our Bodies - Mrs. Krantz

The cold won't slow us down!  We make sure to move our bodies even when we can't go outside.  This was a new obstacle set up in our classroom and it was super fun to see what each child did with it!

We Love Art! - Mrs. O'Loughlin

Mrs. Hein was here today to do our last project before the Art Show on Friday March 2nd! These preschoolers love this intentional art time and can’t wait to show off their masterpieces!

Teamwork - Mrs. Krantz

We had a full morning!  Chapel with Pastor Matt and Ms. Ann, Art with Mrs. Hein, Papa Joe came to read too!  We also saw some amazing building and math happening, all child initiated!  It took 89 straws to reach from one end of the class, all the way to the end of the hallway.  This happened with some incredible teamwork and lots of serious thought.

The Good Shepherd - Mrs. O'Loughlin

A new friend at chapel, Shepherd Biff, told the preschoolers a story about a how he had 100 sheep but one was missing! So Shepherd Biff went looking for that one missing sheep and when he found it, picked it up and carried it home. Pastor Matt said we are like the little sheep and that Jesus is like the good shepherd who loves us and will carry us home!

Back at preschool we drew our own shepherds and added some sheep, created sheep folds and used letter stamps to write out our names because we are Jesus’ little lambs!

Friday is our visit from Willamette Dentistry!

Saying Good-Bye - Mrs. Krantz

We had a wonderful day full of kindness and hearts, but a sad day too as we said good-bye to a friend moving away.  It is always hard to say good-bye but we know that we are all part of God's family and we can continue to love one another even when we are far away.  We will miss our dear friend and his family.  Safe travels and may God's blessings be upon you.

A Million Valentines! - Mrs. O'Loughlin

We began our morning by reading a poem entitled “A Million Valentines”. We read this poem and talked about why we give valentines. The preschoolers decided because we love the people we give them too.

During centers, lots of heart valentines were cut out for special people who are loved! Papa Phil read Pete The Cat not once, not twice, but three times as the preschoolers danced to that groovy music! Love soup was stirred, scooped, poured and served in the sensory table. Heart jewels and lavender scent made for a fun station.

We heard about the Good Samaritan in worship. Ask your preschooler who stopped to help the man and who was it that showed true kindness.

Friends Are Kind and Love Each Other - Mrs. King

Today we enjoyed chapel and learned about how friends treat one another. We shared ideas about how we can be kind to one another! I love seeing our preschoolers talk about friendship and learn about caring for one another.

We are excited for our Heart Cafe next week! Please let me know who will be accompanying your preschooler if you haven’t RSVP’d by now!

Art - Mrs. Krantz

We have had some busy days this week with field trips, art and chapel!  Today was an art day and Mrs. Hein taught us all about maps and Amelia Earhart!  We made our own maps with little airplanes and these will be part of our Storyland Art Show on March 2!

Chapel Days - Mrs. O'Loughlin

Starting with chapel is a wonderful way to begin the day! The preschoolers love chapel. Singing with Ms Ann, hearing bible stories from Pastor Matt, being with Mrs. Krantz’s and Mrs. King’s classes. It’s all so special and we are blessed!

Ask your preschooler about the heart. What happens when our heart gets hurt. And who gives us a new heart that is perfect!

We did some Valentine work during centers! Decorating bags for cards and notes and creating a special gift for our mommies and daddies!

Jesus Give Us a New Heart - Mrs. O'Loughlin and Mrs. Krantz

In chapel today, Pastor Matt talked about our hearts. And when we get our feelings hurt our heart can hurt. He crumpled up the paper heart to show the hurt. When we hear “I’m sorry” and we say “I forgive you!” our heart gets better. However, the heart wasn’t perfect anymore, it was wrinkled (that’s the sin) BUT, there’s good news! We get new hearts that are perfect! Ask your preschooler who gives us our new hearts!

Dairy Queen - Mrs. Krantz

Many thanks to Pullman's Dairy Queen for hosting our field trip this morning!  We saw all of the amazing things that happen behind the front counter and tasted some delicious ice cream and some orange julius too!

SHARE Day - Mrs. O'Loughlin

One of our favorite days at preschool is SHARE Day. The preschoolers love to bring a special item from home and have the opportunity to tell their friends all about it. As their teacher, I love this day too! Watching your preschoolers grow in confidence as they talk and describe their SHARE. Seeing the attention and respect given by the others when someone else is talking! Listening to the engaging questions asked! These are lifelong skills that your sweet kiddos are practicing and getting so good at!

Thursday is chapel and art with Mrs. Hein!

Valentine's Day - Mrs. King

Today we learned a song called "Be My Valentine," along with the sign for friend.  Ask your preschooler how to sign, "friend," in sign language!

You are special,
Friend of mine,
Friend of mine,
Friend of mine,
You are special
Friend of mine,
Be My Valentine!
(to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb)

We had so much fun talking about friendships and making beautiful artwork to get ready for Valentines day!

We are really excited to have Chapel again on Thursday at 9:20.  See you then!

The Old European - Mrs. Krantz

What a wonderful restaurant experience we had at The Old European!  We enjoyed seeing the kitchen, watching the orange juice machine at work, tasting the orange juice and ordering a snake or teddy bear pancake!  We are so blessed to have such supportive businesses in Pullman!

Showing Kindness! - Mrs. O'Loughlin

In worship we heard about a very kind king who showed compassion and forgiveness! Ask your preschooler if the king wanted the money back! We had a lot of opportunity this morning to show kindness ourselves. During our SHARES, preschoolers were kind and respectful as friends spoke. At centers, preschoolers were kind by sharing toys and working together in their play. At snack, preschoolers were kind when passing water and giving compliments about yummy food. During outside time, preschoolers were kind when apologizing AND forgiving when collisions occurred.

What a wonderful group of kind and compassionate preschoolers!

Mrs. King's Weekly Newsletter

Happy Valentines Day!  I am so excited to celebrate Valentines Day in preschool over the next couple of weeks.  We will enjoy a variety of art projects and activities that help us practice fine motor skills.  We will talk about kindness, empathy and friendship starting with books like, "I Like Myself," by Karen Beaumont and, "How to Be a Friend," by Molly WIgand.  We will take this time to revisit some friendship skills we are working on all year such as, sharing toys, giving gentle touches and giving compliments.

On Thursday we will have Chapel at 9:20 and Art with Mrs. Hein.  In worship we will learn about the Forgiving King.

Class lists for Valentine's were in your boxes this past week.  Almost everyone picked them up, but if you need an extra, I have a few more if needed!  We will exchange Valentines at preschool on February 15th.  Your child is not required to exchange Valentines, but it is a fun activity.  If you plan to include candy, please remember we are a peanut/tree nut free facility.

The Heart Cafe is also coming up on the 15th from 9am-10am.  Each child gave their invitation at pick up on Thursday.  If you didn't catch Mrs. Krantz's facebook live post on the evening of January 30, go on and watch it.  She has a lot of useful information about the Heart Cafe and the other events coming up in preschool over the next month! For the Heart Cafe, please let me know how many will be joining your preschooler for the breakfast on the 15th.  And, as usual, let me know if you have any questions!

Blessings,
Amber

SHARE Day - Mrs. Krantz

SHARE Day is always a great day in preschool!  It is such a neat opportunity to hear each child speak in front of his/her peers and to see the rest of the group respectfully listen and engage in discussion about the item.

We had a full morning enjoying the outdoors, drawing in our prayer journals, lacing cheerio necklaces, and working hard at the telephone operator station!  What a fun way to work with numbers!

Camouflage! - Mrs. King

This morning we learned about how some animals change their fur for the winter.  Snowshoe Hares have white fur in winter to camouflage or blend in with the snow!  We painted brown rabbits to make them white for the winter!

This morning we were so excited to have Mrs. Hein come do a watercolor art project with us AND we had Papa Ken come do woodworking.  Such fun!

We enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this morning and are so thankful for our fun outdoor space!

Field Trip to Pets Are People Too - Mrs. O'Loughlin

We had a wonderful field trip this morning! Ask your preschooler what their favorite animal was!
