We all got outside today! Our costumed group practiced closing program songs over in the church and then played outside! Parachute play, digging in the sand, zipping down the slide, and hiding in the crazy tall grass made for a wonderful morning! Next Monday and Tuesday will be our "Outside All Day" day! Please apply sunscreen and send a hat as well!
Fun fun morning!! All these friends had a great morning of pretend and dress up! In worship we are focusing on how a friend loves at all times! As friends, we made a big line and worked together to pass the bean bag to the end of the line. It was a hoot and our classrooms were filled with giggles and cheers! Friday is our field trip to the Community Action Center! I will send out an email with the car arrangements tomorrow. Have a wonderful (rainy) afternoon.
We had another fantastic Pajama and stuffed animal day at preschool today!! Each stuffed friend received a name tag as it arrived. And during opening circle, the preschoolers worked together to put their friends into different categories. Big/Little, Animal/Human, Brown/Not Brown...each time the friends were added up and the preschooler had to figure out which category had the most! At centers, the preschoolers designed their own pajamas, played with shapes on the light tables, felt around in the "dream cloud" sensory table, and read some sleepy time books. At closing, we read Llama Llama Red Pajama. Always a favorite! We compared ourselves to the little llama. Text to self connections is a great way for your preschooler to engage further in the story by sharing the same feeling or experiences as the characters they are reading about! Wednesday and Thursday are Dress Up Days!!!
As preschoolers entered they counted out 10 "friends" and 1 "blanket". During circle we used these props to sing There Were 10 in the Bed! Ask the preschoolers what the little one kept saying! Pajama day had us thinking about dreams! The preschoolers thought about their favorite dream and wrote about it with Papa Phil. Lots of fantastic imagination and story tellers at this school! Worship time was about friends! During a storm, Paul was there for his friends and reminded them about Jesus love and protection. A friend loves at all times...even in the storms.
Welcome to Preschooler’s Choice! The preschoolers came up with a list of all the things they wanted to be sure to do during our last days of school. Some items on the lists included, My Little Ponies, playing outside twice, popsicles, trucks, pet shop, and parachute play. We will be including this list of fun and learning into our circle, centers and outside times. The most requested on the Preschooler’s Choice list was a pajama day! Monday and Tuesday will be Pajama and stuffed animal day! Your preschooler is welcome to wear their jammies and bring a stuffed friend along for the morning. Another popular request was dress up! Wednesday and Thursday will be costume days! Have your preschooler pick a favorite costume and wear it to school. We do ask no scary masks and please, no pretend weapons. On Friday we will be going on a field trip to The Community Action Center. We are in need of drivers. You will find a sign up in both classrooms. Due to limited space, there are no siblings on this field trip. Snack will be provided! Last day parties are being planned! Our T/TH group is having a Luau! And our M/W/F group will be attending Camp Concordia! Our 5 day kiddos get to go to both! Sign-ups for both of these super fun days are in the lobby. Our closing program and graduation will be on Thursday, May 25th at Concordia Lutheran Church from 6-7:30pm. Your preschoolers have been working hard and practicing their songs and can’t wait to share them with you! Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing mommas!!

Paul and Silas continued to sing praises to God even while in jail! The preschoolers guessed that maybe they were singing "Jesus Loves Me" or perhaps even "Let It Go". :) To add to the preschool praises, rhythm sticks and shakers were added to our worship time! Outside the hunt for roly-polys was on! Many were discovered in the sandbox and under rocks. It's such a treat watching these friends search together and then share the joy of a found bug. Both classes had the opportunity to celebrate a birthday! Cupcakes makes an already wonderful day even better! Per preschoolers choice: Monday and Tuesday will be our Pajama/Stuffed Animal Day!
We have been enjoying our outside time very much these past few days. So much learning is going on while these preschoolers are running around in this wonderful weather: •Insect hunts and observations •Discovering the daily changes to trees and plants •Counting to 20 as games of hide and seek ensue •Testing the amount of water to sand ratio to create the best sand castle •Peer negotiations while taking turns •So much imagination and story telling as the preschoolers become cheetahs or injured people who are in need of doctors We love our outside learning!!
Officer Breshears of the Pullman Police Department visited our school today! He showed us his uniform and all the tools he carries around with him to keep him and others safe. Does your preschooler remember how many pockets Officer Breshears has?! (Hint: its more than a dozen!!) The best part; he brought his patrol car!! Each preschooler took turns crawling in the back and getting an up close look. Lights and sirens were also a favorite! Thank you Officer Breshears! We had so much fun!
Paper, paints and brushes were set up in our sunny windows this morning. The magnolia tree just outside is in full bloom and it is beautiful! The preschoolers used Gods creation as inspiration as they painted by the windows! They quickly discovered that the wet paint created a translucent look to their paper and had a wonderful time exploring and testing different colors. Some very special gifts and cards went home today!
Some very special preschoolers have been working on a very special gift for some very special mommies. They will be completing their beautiful creations this week and bringing them home! Our closing program and graduation is less than three weeks away. Both classes have chosen their songs and we will begin practicing. Singing is a huge part of our daily worship times. The preschoolers will hear the story of Paul and Silas and how they sang songs while in jail. Some musical instruments will be added to our songs of praises to our Risen LORD! On Tuesday, a preschooler’s daddy, who just happens to be a police officer, will be visiting our school and he will be bringing his patrol car! And on Friday, a preschooler’s mommy, who is from Hawaii, is coming to celebrate May Day/Lei Day with us, complete with hula dancing! Wednesday and Thursday are SHARE Days! Every year we throw a party for our last days of preschool. Our T/TH group has chosen a Luau party and our MWF group has chosen a Campout party! 5 day preschoolers get to go to both! Please be watching for signups in the lobby to help out with these very fun last day celebrations. As the end of the year is quickly approaching, there are many dates to remember. We will be sure to keep everyone in the loop by posting on the blog, our facebook page and sending out emails! Blessings on your week!

We had such a wonderful visit from Captain Whetzel of the District 12 Fire Department. He showed us wildfire gear and structural gear. He even brought some preschool size gear for the kiddos to try on! After his presentation, all the preschoolers climbed aboard the fire truck! So much fun! The weather was so beautiful that we stayed outside the remainder of our morning! Snack, worship and centers was all enjoyed in this gorgeous sun! Ask your preschooler what their favorite part of being outside was!
This morning, the preschoolers became 911 dispatchers. (Thank you for all the phone donations!!!) Listening to these one sided emergencies was the best. As the caller said what was wrong, the preschoolers wrote words and drew pictures to depict the emergency. During worship we decided that you can have any job and tell others about Jesus. Lydia made clothes and she did it! So can preschoolers. Ask your kiddo to sing our "I can tell about Jesus" song. It's quickly becoming a favorite! Thursday and Friday, Captain Whetzel visits!
We had another wonderful visit from Smokey and Forester Robbie. Robbie told the preschoolers all about being a fire fighter out in the forest. He always has a crew with him and he keeps in contact with them using his radio. Ask your preschooler what we heard when he turned his radio on! He also showed us all the tools in his pack. A light pack weighs about 45 pounds! Some of our preschoolers tried it on and all of them fell over!
What an exciting morning! Smokey Bear was here! He brought two Forest Service friends with him who fight fires. They showed us all the stuff they need to carry in their packs. Ask your preschooler what the forest fire fighters eat! And where do they sleep? Each preschooler had a chance to meet, hug, high five and get a picture with Smokey! Such a treat! Thank you Papa Phil for setting this up for us!
