Outside!

Our preschoolers enjoyed a lot of outside time today!  We moved our centers time outside and it was wonderful!  The preschoolers enjoyed the sensory table in the sunshine, they carried clipboard with paper and markers to draw what they saw and the even enjoyed several visits from 3 resident bunnies.  Balancing and sliding were also important parts of their morning.

In our worship, we listened to the account of Jesus' ascension into heaven.  We sang songs and prayed together.

SHARE Day is tomorrow and Friday!  Make sure to turn in your permission slips for the field trips next week.

A Few Things

Thursday and Friday are SHARE Days!

We will also be outside quite a bit the remainder of this week, so please apply sunscreen before preschool if you would like your preschooler to have it on for outdoor play.

We only have a few spots left for next fall!  Please let your friends know if they are interested in enrolling next fall and would like to visit... time is getting short to see our classroom in action!

If your child has a summer birthday and would like to celebrate in the classroom before the school year is over, please connect with me and we can schedule a day.

Helpers Song

This morning we learned a new song that helps us remember what different community helpers do.   Ask your preschooler if he/she remembers the song and perhaps they will sing it for you.  We worked on fire fighter puppets, spring patterns and we also practiced several songs for our upcoming program.

We have a parent that has stepped forward to plan the end of the year party for the M/W/F class.  We could use at least one more parent to help in the endeavor.  Please let me know if you are able to help out.

SHARE Days are Thursday and Friday this week!

Police Officer

Many thanks for Officer Anderson for visiting out preschool this morning.  We learned about how Police Officers are helpers and the different things they do to keep us safe.  We saw many tools a police officers uses and got to see the police car.  Some of the preschoolers crawled around in the back seat of the car.

We will continue learning about community helpers next week!

Spinning Wheel

Today we were blessed with a visit from one of our congregation members.  She brought in two spinning wheels and demonstrated how to make yarn from wool.  We had read a book about the process before she arrived, so it was a fun way to see the process in real life.  We each got a piece of dyed blue wool and then the children had the opportunity to work the wheel.  It was fabulous fun!

We welcomed a new student into our classroom today!  I must say that I am very proud of how the preschool children welcome in new friends and help them feel welcomed.  You all have amazing children!

Hunting Eggs

The highlight of our morning was the Easter Egg Hunt at the end of our morning.  The anticipation all morning was strong!  The rainy weather didn't stop us... we just enjoyed the hunt upstairs in the sanctuary.  Perhaps some church attenders will find an egg to enjoy as well!

We also said goodbye to a dear preschooler as the family moves to Spokane in the next few days.  We will miss them very much but are thankful for the time we had with them here in Pullman.

Please join us for Holy Week Services!
Tonight, Muandy Thursday -  7pm
Tomorrow, Good Friday - Noon and 7pm

Holding Butterflies

It was a wonderful experience for the preschoolers to hold one of our emerged butterflies in the classroom!  We will have our last three butterflies with us a few more days as it was too windy and cold to release them this morning.  We won't complain about having them with us a bit longer!

Our morning started with chapel upstairs.  After chapel we learned about camouflage and looked closely at the empty chrysalises.

The rain stopped and we were able to enjoy some windy playtime outside.  The wind currents blew out bubbles in many different directions!

Camouflage!

Today we shared our camouflage attire and learned about blending in.  We also saw how butterflies use camouflage for protection.  We used our meadow mural and an orange butterfly to demonstrate just how a butterfly can blend in.  We also saw this first hand when we released some of our butterflies outdoors.  One butterfly landed, folded up it's wings, and became quite difficult to see!  It was very exciting.

In worship, we learned about what we remember on Good Friday and we heard the story of the crucifixion of Jesus.  We know the story doesn't stop there!  We heard that it was really the love Jesus had for each one of us that really held him on the cross.  He loves us so much that He died for each one of us to take away our sins.  Amazing love!

Coming Up This Week...

This week we will finish our unit on Butterflies.  We will release the butterflies outside early this week and recap what we have learned about their lifecycle.  We will also be playing out the Butterfly Play as we see how God created camouflage as a means of protection.  Remember that Monday and Tuesday are camouflage days, so wear camo or one particular color.

Worship this week will focus on Jesus’ death on the cross as we remember on Good Friday.  His death is a very important part of the story, but it is not the end.  We look forward to celebrating His resurrection on Easter morning!

Thursday and Friday we will end our days with an Egg Hunt… hopefully outside!  Family is welcome to attend!  We will start promptly at 11:15am, and it will most likely be done at 11:16am

A few things to note:
  • ·         Chapel is Tuesday, unless Baby Bayer is born.
  • ·         Monday and Tuesday are Camouflage Days
  • ·         Thursday and Friday 11:15am Egg Hunt

The Seder Meal

Today we used our snack time as an opportunity to taste some of the foods served at a Seder Meal.  We started by visiting the Upper Room (balcony) and the children could have their feet washed if they chose.  Then we went back down to eat some of the foods from the Seder.  Parsley dipped in salt water was not a favorite :).

We now have two butterflies and will soon have a lot more!

We also worked on several mosaic crosses.  These will take a bit to dry, so will be coming home next week.  Don't forget that next Monday and Tuesday are camouflage days.  Also, next week on Thursday and Friday we will have Egg Hunt at 11:15am.  Siblings are welcome to participate in the hunt!

Butterfly!

Right before preschool started this morning, a butterfly emerged from the chrysalis!  It was really neat and a few early birds were able to see part of it happen.  Amazing!

We started out morning at chapel with Pastor Tim.  During centers were finished our woodworking project and your preschooler should have brought home his/her wooden cross.  They worked hard and did a very nice job.

Just a reminder that tonight at 7pm there will be a presentation by a man from Israel, teaching about Christ in the Passover.  It is incredibly interesting.  He is with Jews for Jesus.  Childcare is provided.  A meal is also provided starting at 5:45pm, Chicken Tortilla Soup and bread.  Please come if you are able!

Coming Up this Week

I am happy to say that so far the butterflies have not emerged, so there is a chance we may be able to witness this incredible miracle in the classroom!  Even if we don’t get to watch them emerge, we will soon be observing our beautiful butterflies.  This week we will be creating a mural of a meadow.  We will also create butterflies and birds to use in a Butterfly play next week.  We will discover how God created butterflies with the gift of camouflage.

Worship this week will focus on The Last Supper and the Holy Day of Maundy Thursday.  We will participate in a small Seder type meal and foot washing.  Chapel is set for Wednesday, but we are on alert as Pastor Tim will be a Daddy to another beautiful son sometime in the next few days/weeks.  Please keep his family in your prayers!

A few things to note:
·         Chapel is Wednesday, unless Baby Bayer is born. J
·         Mrs. Krantz will be gone on Thursday.  Mrs. Eld will be in the classroom.

important Information

Next week on Monday and Tuesday, please have your child wear something camouflage.  This doesn’t necessarily mean camo, but perhaps wearing all of one color.  We will be learning how camouflage protects butterflies and we will learn how we can blend in.

This Wednesday evening, a presenter from Jews for Jesus will be speaking about the Passover.  His presentation is at our evening 7pm service.  Soup and bread supper prior.  Childcare is provided.
