Almost Done

We are rounding the corner to the end of our last week of preschool. We enjoyed our day together in lots of different ways. We watched our preschool DVD, although that didn't last too long, we played in the moon sand, made journal entries about our favorite things about preschool, played farm, took care of babies and just enjoyed one another!

We had our last chapel with Pastor Dudley. Everyone got a turn to be the acolyte. This was by far a favorite part of the morning! We talked about being the hands and feet of Jesus.

We ended our morning with some wonderful outside time.

Remember that Thursday and Friday are SHARE Days and the end of the year parties begin at 11am. Families are welcome to join us!

Watching Our Movie

We had such a great time today as we watched the preschool DVD, starring the preschoolers! It was fun to see them remember then different things we have done over the year and beam with pride when they were on the big screen!

We also spent time on the balance beam, bouncing on the big riding balls, creating a volcano in the moon sand, writing letters, and working with puzzles.

We sang our favorite Jesus Time songs, heard the story of the Holy Spirit coming to the disciples, and spent some time praying with each other.

Music with Miss Marsha ended our day as we danced, listened the the birds sing, and played a fun game about Lucy Locket.

SHARE Day is Thursday and out party will be at 11:00am. Parents are welcome to join in!

Cardboard Fun

We started the day with some fun rhyming words. We made lists of words that rhyme with BUG, BALL and SUN. The kids were enjoying these lists and even made up some great nonsense words for the lists!

Centers included cardboard fun. They asked for cardboard, and I just happened to have a bunch of it stored away, so we brought it out and amazing inventions, art and creations followed. We had wings, houses, garages, as projects yet to be finished. They were so engrossed with their activity that we went longer than usual. We had a great time!

The preschoolers also took some time today to help clean and organize our room. We checked the games to make sure the pieces were there and in the right boxes, we checked the puzzles and some of the manipulatives. We also took art from the walls and delivered the artwork the the correct cubby. What great helpers!

SHARE Day is Friday!!!

We spent part of our morning getting ready for the BIG program on Thursday evening. I am so excited for the kids and they are doing a fantastic job! It is going to be a lot of fun.

We spent a lot of time looking at the bugs in our room, working with some puzzles, playing big games and looking at some new books about ants and ladybugs. There were some amazing pictures in those books!

We spent about 30 minutes outside enjoying the breeze and sunshine. Dancing and running with ribbons was a favorite as was digging for treasure.

Music with Miss Marsha was lots of fun with our puppet chase game, 3 monkey in a peanut shell and hickity pickity bumblebee!

The preschoolers were intrigued by the additional insects in our room this morning. We added adult ladybugs and ladybug larva that we will watch grow and changed to pupa! We also spent time preparing for our program on Thursday evening... it's sure to be a very fun time!

Centers time involved a lot of group time. Small groups formed and worked on lifecycle floor puzzles, an exciting game of carpet Candyland, laboratory work as they observed the bugs, and a farm was busy in Dramatic Play!

Music with Miss Marsha ended our morning as we played a puppet game, sang some fun songs, and practice rhythms with a songs about 3 little moneys in a peanut shell!

We’ll be making scientific drawings, making list of bug words, observing the ants and ladybugs along with a lot of other fun bug activities. We will head outside as the weather allows, so please remember to put sunscreen on your preschooler if you would like to have them wear sunscreen. Sun hats are a great idea too!

During Jesus Time we will learn the story of Peter and John healing the lame man. We’ll learn a brand new song that tells the story quite well! Our verse is “Hear the word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28.

The closing program and graduation will be this Thursday evening at 6:30pm. We will start right at 6:30pm to make sure we don’t run too late. It’s going to be a really fun evening!

The Ants are Here!

Our ants arrived this morning and are happy at work in our classroom anthill! We learned about the lifecycle of ants and watched our hard working group get busy in their new home. Those little bugs are amazing! Tunnels are already being built. Take a look the next time you are in our room!

Centers time included making ant trails, working on lifecycle puzzles of ladybugs and ants, weaving, observing our ants and building our own homes for some play ants out of blocks.

Art with Miss Holly was lots of fun as we made sand castles. The recipe for sand clay will be given out just as soon as I get my hands on it!

Super Sunshine

After learning about the lifecycle of a ladybug, we headed outside to spend our morning in the sun! We looked for bugs, found worms, took a closer look at them and made worm homes! We also had fun with our new balance beam, made trails, built with BIG blocks, danced with ribbons, and all kinds of other fabulous outdoor learning! We even had Jesus Time outside as we enjoyed the wonder of Spring and the new life all around us!

Glorious Times Outside

We spent almost half our morning outside as we created books, searched for bugs, dug for treasure, chased bubbles, danced with ribbons and enjoyed warm sunshine! It was a great way to spend our morning... we've been waiting to get more time outside!

During Jesus Time we made a list of the times that Jesus is with us. Conclusion... Jesus is ALWAYS with us, just like he said in the Bible.

Music with Miss Marsha was full of energy, singing, dancing and beautiful instruments.

The Ant, the Bug and the Bee

We learned a super fun song today about the ant, the bug and the bee. We now know that insects have 6 legs and they can crawl on the wall without falling off! We also began practicing a little bit for our upcoming program!

Centers time included making clay ladybugs, weaving, work with tangrams and a few fun things in building and dramatic play. We also brought out the computer and linked to a live webcam that is in Iowa in the nest of bald eagles! There are three baby eagles right now and we watched what was going on in the nest. The kids were amazed! The next is quite big and the birds are fun to watch. Here is the link to this 24/7 webcam if you want to check it out...

SHARE Day

We had a lot of fun sharing our items from home this morning! It has really been a pleasure to watch the speaking skills of your children grow and change over this past school year!

We finished up our secret project, and they were sent home all wrapped and ready for Mother's Day! We also made antennae headbands, bug books, massive sized buildings and enjoyed the new couch and chair!

Chapel with Pastor Dudley was great and he showed us some special stuffed animals. Ask your preschooler what they were!

We ended the morning with art with Miss Holly where we looked at pictures by Mary Cassatt and then drew our own pictures. They went home today too!

Bugs and Bubbles

We learned a little more about bugs today and the different parts of their body. We made out very own antennae to wear, made drawings of bugs and created bug number lines. We also made bug patterns, read bug books and read a poem about ants.

During Jesus Time we learned a new song about how much God loves us... in a very big way!

Outside time was fabulous with the warm sunshine, small breeze and room to run. We played with bubbles, ribbons, bikes, shovels and chalk.

Remember that SHARE Day is tomorrow and Friday!

Wild Weather

We spent about 25 minutes outside today and in that amount of time we experienced about 8 different types of weather! What a great opportunity for a teachable moment! Once we were inside we made a list of all the types of weather we saw and experienced. We made a chart according to which types we could see, feel or both. Then we each decided which one was our favorite type of weather. FABULOUS!!!

Our day started with a visit from one of the member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She brought in her spinning wheel and showed us how wool is spun into yarn! It was fun to feel the textures of the fibers at the different stages. Thanks Nancy for coming in and sharing!

BUGS

We began learning about bugs today! We started with a list of all the things we already know about bugs. They sometimes fly, crawl and hop. They can be very small. We listed specifics bugs too. Over the next few weeks we will be learning all kinds of stuff about bugs!

Centers time involved making bug books, hiding bugs and finding them, playing farm, checking out our brand new couch and chairs in our reading area and matching bugs with one another! We also started a top secret project, code name PROJECT MOM.

We spent a wonderful amount of time outside as we ran, discovered budding trees, investigated the wind with ribbons, dug in the sand, rode bikes and just plain enjoyed real spring weather! Beautiful!

May is Here!

WOW!!! We are starting our last month of preschool. It has been an amazing year and we are going to have an amazing last month! This month we will be having fun with insects! Soon ladybugs and ants will be taking residence on our room and the preschoolers will enjoy watching them, drawing them and learning more about them! We are hoping to spend as much time outside as possible. We’ll be checking out different spots that we might find several types of insects. It is sure to be fun! SHARE Day is this Thursday and Friday.

During Jesus Time we will be learning about Thomas. Our focus will be that Jesus is alive and we can tell others this great news! Our verse this week is “Thomas said to Jesus, ‘My Lord and my God!’”

Please take a quick moment to make sure your child has clothing in his/her cubby that still fits and is appropriate for the season (if that is possible!).

Please take note of all the things going on this last month. A lot is happening and we hope you can take part!
